The names of the various styles and types of music culturally associated with my country are at first there is folk music and then there is urban music then comes all the advanced music which is mostly are immitated from American music. But the music that would define my country is folk music and most of the folk music are sang by the poor people in the country but some of the rich people also sings folk music but they consider singing it as a hobby. But the popular folk music in Bangladesh are sang by the people that were poor and got higher in society by singing folk music. But urban music is written and sang by regular people in Bangladesh. Before urban music was invented or came to Bangladesh, folk music was popular to everyone starting from little kids to older people. But when urban music came and or was invented in Bangladesh most of the people started to like urban music because it had new instrument such as tabla, harmoniam, bashi and etc. All these instruments are made and played in Bengali urban music. But when advanced music came people forgot about folk music but they did listen to urban music and they rocked with advanced music. Advanced music is the same music that puff daddy sings and Madonna sings and the music that is sang by all the other popular singer but what Bengali people does is that they take all the instrumental sounds from all the popular song in America and they pay other people in Bangladesh to sing and they pay them the half the money that they make. Now most of the people in Bangladesh are into advanced music and most of the advanced music is sang by guys that are 20, 21, 23 and guys that drop high school and don't graduate but they get into music business. Folk music can only be defined as voices and the people that sang most of the folk music used nothing but an instrument called "aktara". But urban music can be defined as abstract music with tone color, and some of them has accent. Most of the advanced music is abstract music and has a beat, tempo, dynamic and orchestration but 75 percent of the advanced music is immitated from this country. All of these music are danced to except folk music but most of the people dances to urban music and the dance is called indian dance because it's immitated from indian songs and people dances to it because they think it's hip and it's fun. But most of the older people like my grand parents likes folk music but hates urban and advanced music. There is no different music in different part of my country because the same music is heard and danced to in the whole country but except in India because India is kind of faster and kind of advanced in music than Bangladesh. So most of the Bangladeshian music is immitated from all over the world. But people that are poor doesn't listen to no music except listens to the people that goes around town and sings folk music. Most of the people in Bangladesh that lives in village still thinks folk music are popular and when they goes visit the city in Bangladesh and which is Dhaka gets amazed by all the urban and advanced music. The instrument that is used in folk music is called "Aktara". Aktara is a coconut skull that has two wooden sticks at the side and kind of shaped like a triangle and has a string from the middle that is hooked to the two sticks at the top and it makes funny noice which is very popular in Bangladesh. Urban music uses tabla which is like a drum but it's not. It's two little round thing which you got to hit with your hands to make noices like drums but it's similar to drum. Then there is harmoniam which makes noice like piano but it's half the size of piano and then comes bashi which is the almost the same as woodwind. My family does listen to urban music but my grand parents only listens to folk music. But

Time and Space in Kalifornia essays
Time and Space in Kalifornia essays Choose a film and undertake an analysis of that film by exploring how space, time, movement and other designs create meaning. Kalifornia, Dominic Senas 1993 film is one that utilises the concepts of space, time and movement to an effective degree as a journey into the serial killer psyche. The film is of the road genre and as such movement plays an important role, as do the exploration of spaces and the use of time. Kalifornia follows Brian, a struggling writer who is researching a book on serial killers and his girlfriend, Carrie, a photographer. The two hatch a plan to travel to California visiting the sites of famous murders along the way. As they are unable to afford the petrol expenses they decide to place an ad on a college bulletin board for someone to travel cross country with them. They are joined by Early Grayce and his child-like girlfriend Adele Corners. Movement in this film can be considered in the context of a journey. However, this journey takes place not only in a physical sense but also, as is usually the case with journeys, in a symbolic sense. As the four characters travel and move together they learn a great deal about themselves and each other. Physical movement within the film is explored throughout as a device which propels the plot forward. The moving car is the tool, even the literal vehicle, which Sena employs to drive the plot and the characters employing wide primarily static shots of the car moving through the frame to show the perpetuity of the journey. As the characters of Brian and Carrie move toward their physical destination, California, so too, do they move towards their own misfortunes. This is particularly evident in the fact that each time the car moves onto its next destination, a little bit more of Earlys character is revealed to them until it finally becomes clear just what they have got themselves int o. The moment of realisation occurs when, upon Carries i...

Fairy Tales Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Fairy Tales - Research Paper Example Indeed, in fairy tales, the stepmother is usually mean, deceitful and incapable of loving her stepchildren. In this day and age when divorce, separation and single parenthood make having a stepmother a fact of life, it is a wonder why fairy tale stepmothers are still stereotyped as such. Moreover, because of how common having a stepmother is nowadays, it is curious to know how these evil depictions may influence the relationship of todayââ¬â¢s children with their stepmothers. One reason behind the evil stepmother character is history, supposedly. Author Maria Warner writes that fairy tales may be influenced by the happenings in society during the time the stories were written. Death at childbirth was common in earlier times so having a new mother was a usual occurrence. Warner believes that making the stepmother wicked in fairy tales served as a warning for readers during that time and points to real-life tragedies where an offspring is killed so the stepmotherââ¬â¢s child can inherit the fatherââ¬â¢s riches. (Sellers) Another explanation for this depiction comes from Bruno Bettelheim and other critics who have psycho-analyzed fairy tales. According to this group, the portrait of an evil stepmother is actually a projection of the bad side a good mother has. (Tatar) Supposedly, an individual does not feel as guilty hating the bad qualities of oneââ¬â¢s mom epitomized by the malevolent stepmother. With this image of a motherââ¬â¢s evilness, ââ¬Å"momâ⬠is able to remain the loving and good-natured parent, always wanting the best for her child. Writer Patricia Watson shares that in Europe during the writing of Hansel and Gretel, peasants abandoned their children because they did not have enough food to feed them (Watson) and thus it was easier to hate a ââ¬Å"stepmomâ⬠for this. It is noteworthy, too, how the stepmother is made to be jealous of her stepdaughterââ¬â¢s beauty or good qualities. In Snow White, the Evil Queen who is vain becomes angry when her magic mirror says its famous line: ââ¬Å"Snow White is the fairest of all.â⬠(Grimm) Her anger led her to think of ways on how to get rid of Snow White in her world. Wanting to look pretty and young is not a problem and cannot e viewed as a mistake on the stepmotherââ¬â¢s side. Everyone wants to look young and good. What made her evil though is her banishing of Snow White from the castle and trying to kill her. Although having a bad stepmother may be common in this age of divorce and separation, it has not been a regular occurrence for stepmothers to kill their stepdaughter or stepson. In Cinderella, the vain stepmother forces Cinderella to work in her own house, maybe in an attempt to make the pretty stepdaughter dirty-looking and unpleasant. She also makes it hard for Cinderella to attend the Princeââ¬â¢s ball by giving her so many chores and then locking the child up in her room. (Cinderella) In 2007, a self-study about the relationship of a ste pmother and stepdaughter was released to the public. The researchers were members of one family who exemplified one of the most common contemporary family structures ââ¬â a stepfamily. The researchers discovered that the ââ¬Å"wicked stepmotherâ⬠title is most times brought about by anger that the biological child cannot express towards the biological mother and by negative stereotypes that the child hears. (Strawn and Knox) This research is important. It
